OpenAI launched a prototype of the AI-powered search engine SearchGPT on July 25, 2024.
The platform released a new tool to help target sequence creators, which is in testing right now with only some users and publishers.

Reports of a potential search engine by OpenAI have been swirling for months.
On May 9, one X fan on social media hinted at an imminent announcement.
This was reported by a Reddit user, who found a “search.chatgpt.com” domain and SSL certificate.

An all-in-one arsenal Townsend refers to as a Google search engine for conversations, which OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said might one day be possbile on the Lex Fridman podcast.
“If we can build a better search engine than Google, then we should,” said Altman.

He emphasized creating a better search experience than Google’s traditional format, stating, “Google shows you 13 ads and ten blue links, which is one way to find information, but the thing that is exciting to me is that maybe there is a much better way to help people find and act on information.”
Altman added, “Maybe it is interesting to say ‘How do we help you find the information you need, how do we help create that in some cases or point you to it in others’.”

Cleaner and more straightforward interface without all the Google stuff.
This gives users the ability to ask for more in a way that covers all potential bases.
